Keep those Xbox 360 controllers charged and ready

As an Xbox 360 gamer, having some sort rechargeable battery option for my controllers is a no-brainer.  Aside from being environmentally friendly, the last thing you want to do is scavenge the house for a set of AA batteries in the middle of an on-line match (such as The King of Fighters XII). It’s always a failed mission.  If you need two, you’ll find one. If you find none, you begin to think of the ramifications of “borrowing” batteries from the TV remote, or worse, your child’s toys.

Rechargeable AA batteries are great, but you still have to worry about finding a matching set and keeping them from getting lost.  And since they’re pretty much universal, you can bet that other members of the house may use them for their own needs or gadgets.  And yes, this pretty much happens during the time you need them the most.

To save yourself from those headaches and worries, Nyko offers Xbox 360 gamers a great solution in the form of the Charge Base 360.

Just like Nyko’s previous Charge Station 360, the Charge Base 360 will charge two of Nyko’s custom rechargeable battery packs (included).  But the Charge Base 360 takes things one step further with a design change that allows two Xbox 360 controllers to sit in the cradle while the battery packs are being charged.  That’s right, no more removing the battery pack just to charge it.  Simply attach the rechargeable battery pack to the controller, and sit the controller in the Charge Base 360 whenever you need a charge or you’re not playing.

The Charge Base 360 has two LED charge indicators on the front that light up red when the battery packs are charging and change to green when a full charge has been reached.  A fully charged battery pack will give gamers around 25 hours worth of play time, which should be enough to last between charges. One fully charged battery has lasted me over several hours of game time, across multiple days and play sessions.  And although the rechargeable battery was no where near depleted, I couldn’t resist placing my controller in the Charge Base 360.  Having a dedicated place to store and display your Xbox 360 controllers is very nice and comforting.  My Xbox 360 controllers now have a home.

If you own an Xbox 360 then some form of rechargeable battery should be on the top of your list.  What puts the Nyko Charge Base 360 at the top is the fact that you no longer have to remove the battery pack from the controller. The new drop-in design of the Charge Base 360 gives Xbox 360 gamers the perfect blend of controller charging and storage in one slick accessory.  The Charge Base 360 retails for $29.99 and is currently available through Nyko’s on-line store and other video game retailers such as Amazon.com. The Charge Base 360 is definitely a must-have accessory for anyone who owns an Xbox 360.

Overall score: 10/10
