Splinter Cell 6 images accidently leaked
You know the old saying of “a picture says a thousand words”? Ain’t it the truth…
Last year Ubisoft announced a sequel to Splinter Cell: Conviction, and that it would be developed by their new Ubisoft Toronto studio. And there was much rejoicing. This past Monday, Blue Sky announced they were helping with Splinter Cell 6‘s sound design. We can only assume Blue Sky meant to brag about their Dolby 7.1 equipment when they posted these images and didn’t realize that maaaaaybe posting pictures with Splinter Cell 6 on the monitors was a bad idea…
We haven’t been able to find any information regarding the newest adventure of Sam Fisher, nor has Ubisoft made a formal statement about the images. Regardless, this is the only tidbit of information “released” since last year’s announcement.
Analyzing the accidentally-leaked images (as seen above and below), we can gleam a little bit of information about Splinter Cell 6 what potentially is in store for Fisher. Here’s a close-up of one of the monitors followed by what we’ve assumed based on it:
- You can faintly see the words “Broken Arrow” at the bottom of the main Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell title screen. Does that mean it’s Splinter Cell 6‘s official title? In Conviction, Fisher’s main enemy was a PMC group known as Black Arrow. Could Broken Arrow be another PMC group, or is it referencing Fisher’s assumed infiltration of Black Arrow?
- The title screen also shows the trademark multi-purpose goggles, but whether it’s the new sonar from Conviction or the night/thermal/electric vision from Chaos Theory is unknown. (If you look real close at the image below, you’ll see Fisher is wearing a bluetooth headset, which screams sonar to me.)
- It looks like he’s holding the traditional Five-seveN pistol. Nice…
- Fisher now out of street clothes and into traditional Splinter Cell gear, classified as the MK VII Tactical Armor (3E Eclipse) as seen in Conviction. (It’s the neckline and shoulder strap that give it away.)
There’s still no word on a release date let alone which platforms the next game in the franchise will be on. Now that these images have found their way (accidentally) to the interwebs, here’s hoping we get more Splinter Cell 6 information at E3 as a result!
