BioWare, FUNimation team up for Mass Effect anime
Following their deal with Dragon Age, BioWare and FUNimation announced today they are working together to create a second anime feature film, this time based off of the mythos of the Mass Effect universe.
T.O Entertainment, a Toyko-based anime and international feature film production company, will co-produce the movie. Casey Hudson, the executive producer for both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 will also serve as executive producer for the project.
“Over the last few years,” Hudson said, “we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us. Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.”
While the plot of the anime feature film has not yet been revealed, the target release date for the direct-to-DVD movie is Summer 2012.
