Nintendo reduces price of Wii, introduces Nintendo Selects
While rumors of Nintendo’s next console sprout up faster than the blogosphere can cover them, Nintendo isn’t completely forsaking their original little system that topped the gaming market for years. Nintendo announced that starting May 15th it will drop the price of the Nintendo Wii to $149.99 and will replace the Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort bundled games. It will now be bundled with the game the Level Up News staff voted Game We Use The Most Explicit Words At, Mario Kart Wii, as well as a Wii Wheel accessory matching the color of the console and remote.
Also that same day, Nintendo will launch the Nintendo Selects collection, much like the Gamecube’s Players Choice. Four games will be a part of this collection set at the retail price of $19.99. They include Animal Crossing: City Folk, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Super Sluggers, and Wii Sports, which is the first time it is being sold as a separate purchase brand new.
“From the day it launched, Wii has let players of all ages and experience levels have fun with one another,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “The new suggested retail pricing for both the hardware and select games will help create more of these magical moments for even greater numbers of people.”
