Now up to eight games total, Nintendo’s relatively new “Nintendo Selects” program takes some of their more family-friendly games and re-packages them for 19.99. Some of these games have been out for three or more years and up until now have still been sold at 49.99. Nintendo Selects also marked the first time that you can actually purchase Wii Sports separately from the console, as all of the newer Wii consoles now come bundled with Mario Kart Wii.

Here is the current lineup:

Wii Sports

Animal Crossing: City Folk

Mario Super Sluggers

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

New games just added:

Super Mario Galaxy

Mario Strikers Charged

Punch-Out!!

Super Paper Mario

Definitely some great deals in here, most notably Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I know I personally paid full-price for all three of those when they were first released, and I’m surprised that it took this long to drop the price. They were well worth the original price and now at 19.99 each, you can expand your Wii collection with some top-notch games for cheap. And don’t forget, the upcoming Wii-U will be backwards compatible with all Wii software and peripherals!

[via Nintendo]

OnLive is one of the leaders of the cloud gaming movement. “What is cloud gaming?” you may be asking. Cloud gaming is what you would use if you want to play newer PC games without being able to afford a killer PC. The way it works is that you pay for the game and it is installed to a server just for you in the OnLive (or whichever service you use) server room. Then you log on from your PC and stream the game over the internet. It isn’t the most perfect way to play a game, there is delay and the potential of the servers going down or the service being discontinued, but it will be perfected and I believe become a new medium for those of us who have to buy our own computers and just don’t have the money to spend on a top notch gaming rig.

OnLive is currently having a fantastic deal to help get people into the service, which I would recomend anyone jump on as soon as possible. If you preorder Homefront from OnLive you will get a free OnLive Game System, which is a box you hook to your TV that acts in place of your computer, it even has a decent controller included to enjoy the action with. You will also get a free Play Pass (means a free install of the game basically) for Metro 2033, a remarkable first person shooter released by THQ last March. That is a $99 value for free when you preorder a $50 dollar game that, with all honesty, looks damn good to begin with.

Homefront is being release March 15th for the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 and I know I will be picking it up myself (I preordered it from Best Buy to get the free limited edition headset). The game is a first person shooter set in a quite plausible future in which the US economy completely collapses and North Korea rejoins South Korea to become a new super power under the rule of Kim Jong-il’s son. After a Korean super-weapon disables the entire US infrastructure the Korean army invades. The player takes the role of a member of a small underground resistance movement which is taking a stand against the invaders in Montrose, Colorodo. Sound a little like the classic film Red Dawn? That is because the game is written by John Milius who also wrote that film back in the 80′s; he has also co-written a prequel novel set in the early months of the invasion titled Homefront: The Voice of Freedom, which I am currently reading, it’s pretty good so far so if you have any interest in the game check it out.
