The Scoop: Developed by Naughty Dog, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves puts us back into the shoes of witty and beloved adventurer, Nathan Drake, exclusively for the Playstation 3. Following his last adventure from Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, many aspects from the previous title that made it such a great game return in this next installment. If you’re looking for the best in action adventure gaming, then you’d be ripping yourself off to pass up this amazing title.
The Setup: Like I stated above, you’ll be yet again assuming the role of beloved adventurer, Nathan Drake. More mellowed out from his previous adventure, Uncharted 2 takes place two years after the events in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Greeted by an old friend, Drake is asked to help retrieve some of Marco Polo’s lost expedition which remains only as a myth.
What’s Hot: Just about everything…
- Cinematics: The cutscenes that are present here are some of the funnest ones I’ve watched in a game. It’s very rare that I play a game twice and watch the cutscenes throughout both gameplays. Definitly a good cinematic experience.
- Story: Wooooow. Uncharted 2 delivers one heck of a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. It’s definitely an exciting story with lots of twists and turns. You’ll also get a great history lesson out of it too.
- Visuals: This game is the best looking game I’ve seen this year. From start to finish, I didn’t notice a single flaw graphically. No texture issues, no pop-ins, and real is not brown. Everything is vibrant and bright. Very beautiful colors present in Uncharted 2. Definitely the most realistic looking game I’ve played as of late.
- Audio: The voice acting is superb, the sound effects are excellent and the soundtrack is perfect. Definitely some great audio here.
- Multiplayer: The online is very fun as you and your friends can play in free-for-alls or do some co-op matches to get up that online rank.
What’s Not: Silly question as everything in Uncharted 2 remains as pure perfection.
Final Verdict: The graphics, the audio, the story, the online…. everything deserves a solid gold star. Not only does this game deserve a Game of the Year award, but it also deserves to be in every Playstation 3 owners home. One of the best experiences I’ve had with my Sony console, not only because Nathan Drake seems to appreciate the female bottom as much as myself, but because this is the most pure adventure game I’ve played since the original Tomb Raider. Level Up News applauds Naughty Dog for a very successful Playstation 3 exclusive.
