The Xbox 360 won’t be the only gaming device that can stream movies through Netflix, as an announcement has been made that PS3 owners will soon be able to join in on the fun.

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) and Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) today announced that they are joining forces to make thousands of movies and TV episodes from Netflix available to be streamed instantly to TVs via the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system. Netflix expects to begin streaming via the PS3 system next month at no additional cost to Netflix members in the United States who have a PS3 system.

So for as little as $8.99 a month, PS3 gamers will now have access to the regular Netflix mail service as well as the ability to stream movies and TV episodes directly to the gaming console.

This might be a good reason for me to reactive my Netflix account. I was close to picking up the DVR service through Comcast, but this Netflix service is a bit cheaper and gives me way more options. If anyone has any input on this, please let me know!
