Telltale Games will bring two franchises to episodic world
Telltale Games has recently announced that they will be making games based on the hit AMC TV show The Walking Dead. I am really excited to hear this news though I do wish they would base the games on the insanely awesome Image comic book by Robert Kirkman. Not that I dislike the show, the first episode is one of the best things ever aired on television, but I do feel the show may have jumped the shark by the end of its 6th episode. It is from Telltale Games so you can expect that The Walking Dead will be about 5-6 episodes in length (like the TV show go figure) and be around $35.00 for the season. The Walking Dead follows the exploits of a group of survivors trying to fend for themselves in a zombie apocalypse, it’s a pretty straightforward story, just don’t get attached to any of the characters.
That isn’t the only new franchise they have, they are also making games based on the comic book series Fables by Bill Willingham. This has to be one of my all time favorite comic book series, easily in the top 3. I started reading it about two years ago and when I first started I was averaging about one TPB a day, catching up to the single issues in only about 2 weeks. At this point it is probably the only comic I can say I have read all 101 issues of and its spin-offs. Fables is the story of a community of fairy tale characters living in modern day New York after being exiled from their Homelands by the evil Adversary. I can assure you this is going to be one of my most anticipated titles for 2011/2012.
It seems Telltale has looked into my heart and decided to give me exactly what I want, first with Sam & Max, then Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, and now adapting my favorite comic book series…. I think someone from Telltale needs to get a hold of Gerard Way and get cracking on a game based on The Umbrella Academy, then all my prayers will have been answered.
