Toshiba Innovation Unmatched, Committing to STEM Education
There is no denying that Toshiba is one of the leading innovators in the technology industry. But beyond physical products is its commitment to STEM education. Toshiba is launching the Toshiba STEMpowerment Project, a year-long campaign tied to the 20th Anniversary of its ExploraVisioon Awards, the world’s largest K-12 science and technology competition, in Irvine on September 20. The campaign reflects Toshiba’s commitment to innovation and to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education.
This focus on this type of education is what will keep today’s students on track to become tomorrow’s leaders in these areas and help create the next breakout gadget, iOS app, video game title etc.
The kick-off event will feature Youth Technololgy Motivator Mario Armstrong (CNN, “Today” Show, NPR, etc.) who will engage with teachers and parents on the importance of emphasizing STEM education, why it matters and how it will help build our future leaders of tomorrow.
Toshiba America Foundation has supported STEM education in Orange County schools through several initiatives including the Green Innovation Challenge, inviting five Orange County middle and high Schools to spend the next four months researching and designing a plan to make their world a greener place. Participating schools include Aliso Niguel High School, Buena Park Junior High, Laguna Beach High School; Rancho Alamitos High School (Garden Grove), and Sierrra Vista Middle School (Irvine).
