E3 News – UTV Ignition Games video game announcements

UTV Ignition Games made a flurry of new video game announcements yesterday at E3 and Level Up News has the recap of all the big announcements!

Dragon’s Crown (2012) – PS3, PS Vita

Dragon’s Crown thrusts you into a fantastical medieval world packed with labyrinthine dungeons to explore, vile monstrosities to smite, and nearly endless online adventure. Your mission is to dive into the dank underworld, uncovering treasure and strengthening your mettle as you unlock the secret behind the ancient dragon threatening the world. Simple, easy-to-learn controls allow anyone to dive into the fray and enjoy the breathtaking sword-and-sorcery action. In addition to long-lasting gameplay, the game also features a vast array of character customization features – with six wildly different classes to play as, raiding the catacombs for epic loot remains fresh and engaging.

Although intrepid adventurers can certainly enjoy Dragon’s Crown on their own, the real excitement begins when four players team up online for a four-player cooperative mission. And don’t expect the portable Dragon’s Crown to be scaled back in any way: The game will offer the same fluid hand-drawn animation, blazing special effects, and haunting soundtrack on both PS3TM and the new PS Vita, with some special interoperability features between the two versions to be revealed at a later date.

National Geographic Challenge! (no set date)- Wii

National Geographic Challenge! allows players to explore our planet through its history and geography, providing a journey through the ages and an inside look at the extraordinary extent of mankind’s achievements.  The game will include both single and multiplayer game modes as up to four players can compete in the quest to claim territories on the in-game globe by answering questions correctly while using various tactics to foil their opponents.

Collapse: Devastated World (2012) – PC, other platforms to be announced

Collapse: Devastated World takes place in 2096 in the center of Europe, 83 years after a mysterious catastrophe takes place, bringing monsters, paranormal activities and elite military troops into the once-normal but, now-destroyed, world. As players journey through the often inexplicable, post-apocalyptic world, they will encounter non-stop action and thrilling melee and long-range combat as the rich storyline unfolds and they begin to learn what caused the horrific catastrophe, and what it will take to save human kind.

Collapse: Devastated World will be available early 2012 on PC, with additional platforms to be announced at a later date.

Fractured Sould 3D (2012) – 3DS
In Fractured Soul 3D, players take on the role of interplanetary rogue, Jake DeSaul  – a man with a checkered and mysterious past who must confront his demons in his desperate plight to escape an eerie and malevolent space station. As they progress through each level, the boundaries between dream and reality continue to blur as Jake faces a lifetime of regrets, hopes, dreams, and what might have been in his efforts to reconcile himself with his past.

In order to help Jake, players must blast their way through 20 exciting and brain bending platform levels spread across five distinct worlds – each offering a unique challenge including inverted gravity, damage, wind, ice, and underwater. Additionally, there are four shoot ’em up levels that also make use of the screen switching. Each level is timed and ranked to encourage replayability.

Magical Drop V (2011) – PC, other platforms to be announced

Magical Drop V is a fast-paced puzzle game where players’ speed and skills are put to the test in local and online multiplayer for up to four players.  Featuring more than 15 quirky characters to play as, gamers must create chains of balls – three of a kind – in order to send them to their opponent’s puzzle screen, and erase enough on their own to clear the level and claim victory. Relying on fast action and quick thinking to create combos, players must be aware that if the line of balls reaches the bottom of their screen, the game is over.

Debuting 16 years ago as an arcade title, the Magical Drop series spans from the Neo · Geo to the PlayStation gaming systems, with the most recent release on the iPhone in 2009 titled Magical Drop Touch. Magical Drop V will be available on PC in late 2011, with additional platforms being announced at a later date.

Quarrel (2011) – iOS, other platforms to be announced

In Quarrel, players control territories filled with various troops – including a caveman, ninja, pirate, G.I, robot, alien, and more – who they must use in battle to create high-scoring words out of an eight-letter anagram. The word they create can only be as many letters as the number of troops the player has in his army (i.e. if the player has five cavemen, ninjas, etc, then the word can be five letters long). The key to victory is simple. Whomever’s word scores more points wins the battle and takes control of the land. The person who wins the most battles, achieves domination of the entire map and wins the game.

Quarrel features multiple game modes such as Quick Match and Showdown that provide for countless hours of wordplay fun. Prepare to challenge tricky A.I. opponents on 12 different maps – each specific to the size of the match and number of quarrellers- that take them acrossfour magical worlds. In each world, the player will face off against humorous and unforgettable characters – each with different skills, word IQ and ways of playing – that will keep them coming back for more.

Planet Crashers 3D (2012) – 3DS

In Planet Crashers 3D players take on the role of a young space cadet who has recently graduated from the esteemed Planet Crashers Academy and is ready to take on his or her first assignment-and it’s a real doozy.Reports indicate that an unknown evil has emerged from a dark corner of the galaxy with plans to snuff out the sun! It’s up to players to venture across the galaxy to prevent this unimaginable catastrophe from happening.

With its playful storyline, intriguing quests, head-to-head multiplayer mode and simple, intuitive gameplay that fully takes advantage of the Nintendo 3DS system, Planet Crashers 3D delivers a fun (and funky!) RPG adventure like never before. Developed by Texas-based Renegade Kid, Planet Crashers 3D is scheduled for release early next year.

Mercury Hg (no date announced) -Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network for PS3

Mercury Hg expands on the addictive qualities of its predecessors, crafting 60 all-new deviously constructed levels filled with hazards and obstacles while adding improvements and polish to almost every aspect of the game. The ‘Mercury Blob’ is still as mesmerizing as ever, moving uniquely under player control, changing color in order to progress through the level and dividing if cut by a protruding surface. While this dissection is important to solve puzzles, the real test of a player’s skill is the ability to navigate strategically through varying types of slippery objects and sticky tiles with the use of balance and momentum in order to get to the finish line with their blob fully intact. A scoring system with full online leaderboard support adds a competitive touch to an already engrossing single-player experience. Additionally, the blob and game levels pulsate and react to the in-game music or songs from the player’s library in real-time.
