Review – Soldier of War for iPhone

The Scoop: The only iPhone hero has a new battlefield and new game title. With Soldier of War, an update to iHooy for iPhone, Hooy has new graphics, music and Scoreloop community.

There’s nothing like the smell of Bombiez in the morning. Or at least to Hooy Ventura there’s not, especially when they try and kill innocent people. Soldier of War iPhone, with its hardcore attitude and beautifully simple and gritty design, is exactly the type of game the App Store has needed.

The Setup: Help Hooy Ventura, the only iPhone hero, save good people from Bombiez. How does he do this? With the help of players’ thumbs, he waits until the Bombiez are within the grasp of massive metal crumples, which are big enough to smash the Bombiez before they get into the bunker where the innocent people are.

What’s Hot:

• Designed specifically for the iPhone
• 16 levels of intense action engaging all of human’s skills.
• Story mode telling the history of Hooy Ventura, The Greatest hero of all times.
• “Till we die mode”, where only the best players will score hundreds of thousands of points.
• Epic OST that makes you want to cry or laugh. Or both.

What’s Not:

• A bit difficult to play if you don’t have the necessary opposable thumbs coordination
• You will inevitably see the “game over” screen a lot, but practice makes perfect

Final Verdict: Bombiez, my friend, are the new enemy so smashing them with the massive metal crumples is addictive and fun. As the game maker says, Solider of War is a cross between Guitar Hero (thumb smashing) and Metal Gear Solid (epic foe battling) and this combination make its $.99 price tag an easy sale.
