Photobucket wins Best Photography App at Appy Awards 2011
Photobucket added a new award to its trophy case today when it announced it won the “Best Photography App” in the MediaPost App Awards. Photobucket was singled out for their patented auto-upload, zero-click technology that allows instant uploading from mobile devices to Photobucket with no effort beyond capturing the picture or video on the device.
Photobucket mentioned in its company announcement that there uploads from mobile devices has seen a 500 percent increase, which is about 20 million uploads per month.
“We are seeing a huge increase in the number of mobile images and videos being uploaded – in fact, daily uploads originating from Photobucket Mobile applications have increased more than 500% in the last year to the current run rate of 10 to 20 million mobile uploads a month; and with the only auto-uploader in the industry, we expect this trend to continue,” said Tom Munro, CEO of Photobucket. “We are extremely proud of our team for receiving this recognition for our app, and we are thankful to MediaPost for the acknowledgement of our technology innovation.”
Photobucket also introduced their snazzy new home page which gives easy access to all the goodies, including a quick snapshot of photo trends, popular topics and new competitions where users can earn prizes and fame. The new design makes it even easier for users to interact with the site and share their photos and videos with the community, while discovering new imagery and content from others based on popular trends and themes.
Photobucket’s MediaPost Appy Awards win can be viewed here and the Photobucket Mobile App can be found in various app stores or on the Photobucket website. Photobucket supports Mobile Web, iPhone, iPad, Android based devices, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone 7.
I’m also told that Photobucket will have several interesting announcements of the next several weeks, so stay tuned.
