Review – Boozle for iPhone
The Scoop: The match three genre just went frat. Boozle, Vivid Games‘ tribute to junk food and alcohol, is available in a $.99 ad-free version and a free ad-supported version. Either way, players will most likely need a drink after the pressure of hectic matching. Come on, keeping the balance between devouring unhealthy food and binge drinking is very difficult in today’s economy.

The Setup: This is a fun and addictive game. Trying to keep your electronic self from, um, er, letting chunks fly… is both challenging and a necessary evil. Meaning, you make your player drink because you’re having fun, but you also make your player eat to keep your player not too drunk so he can continue to have fun into the wee hours of the morning.
I played the ad-supported version and found that the ads were not annoying, which is good because like TV, there’s nothing worse than interrupting a good thing.
What’s Hot:
- The most popular gameplay mechanism meets the greatest party ever
- Keep the balance mechanism for an ultra-dynamic and fun experience
- Crazy party atmosphere with an awesome punk rock OST
- Facebook support: players can let their friends know their drinking tolerance
- Media library functionality so players can hear their favorite tracks during the party
What’s Not:
- The hangover players are left with the next morning. Hey, to play you gotta pay and pay and pay and pay.
Final Verdict: Boozle’s fine line between a good buzz and utter drunkenness is exactly the type of a wicked and twisted gameplay the match three genre needed. It’s genius and evil at the same time, making Boozle one of the top games of the year.
