Sonic CD coming to XBLA, PSN, and more
Later this year, Sonic CD is going to be re-released on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, iPhone/iPad, Windows Phone, and Android devices. Originally released in 1993 on the Sega CD console, and widely regarded as being the best 2D Sonic game to date, Sonic CD has you travel through time to the same areas in either the past, present, or future. Your actions in the present or past would affect certain things in the future and the game even featured multiple endings.
It was very deep for its time, especially for a Sonic game. Sonic CD also marks the first appearances of characters Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, both of which have appeared in a lot of the later Sonic games. With this new version, support for widescreen resolutions and achievements/trophies have been added. No official release date has been announced, but it is said to be expected in “late 2011.”
